Eager to provide the best possible real estate experience for his clients, Lamar has sought out accreditation and certifications including Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR); Pricing Strategy Advisor (PSA); Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES); Military Relocation Professional (MPR); Short Sale and Foreclose Specialist (SFR); and Resort and Second Home Property Specialist (RSPS). He also earned the At Home with Diversity (AHWD) Certification from The Institute for Luxury Home Marketing.
Lamar also has a heart for helping and mentoring young people, especially those in the LGBTQ+ community.
As a longtime volunteer and now Board Chair of SMYAL (Supporting and Mentoring Youth Advocate Leaders), Lamar works tirelessly to ensure that LGBTQ+ young people in crisis secure safe housing, vital mental health services, a community of support and, ultimately, hope for the future. As chair of SMYAL's annual brunch fundraising event, he helped surpass fundraising goals four years in a row. He is also proud to support Capital Pride Alliance, Joseph's House, Stonewall Kickball D.C., and the Wanda Alston Foundation.
Prior to his real estate career, Lamar spent more than 15 years working with young people and families through the YMCA organizations in Hampton Roads, Greater Richmond, and Metropolitan Washington. As Associate Executive Director of the Y's Ayrlawn branch in Bethesda, Maryland, he led $1 million-plus operating budgets, developed strategic plans, built high-performing teams, and worked collaboratively to build strong coalitions among parents, educators, YMCA staff and the greater community.
Lamar attended Virginia State University where he studied political science and Purdue Global where he studied business administration. A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, he has called Washington, D.C.'s Georgetown neighborhood "home" since 2010.
